Have you noticed the skin on your face or neck becoming more dull, dry and crepey? Profhilo will give your skin a beautiful glow and improve skin texture. It also stimulates the production of collagen to maintain healthy and hydrated skin all year round.
In the varied and innovative world of aesthetic medicine, developments in anti-ageing injectable treatments for skin and facial ageing have jettisoned to new heights in recent years. It’s no longer just a choice of dermal fillers or wrinkle-smoothing injections that patients have to decide upon, to improve skin tone, elasticity and smoothness. Now there are sophisticated substances which can work with your skin on a cellular level to improve your skin’s tone, texture and overall appearance. One such treatment, available from Dr Amy Law, is Profhilo®.
Profhilo® is an injectable substance, responsible for the bio-regeneration of the skin. It works by stimulating the body’s own hyaluronic acid production by replacing this natural sugar in the body, which depletes over time. When Profhilo® is injected in to areas that have succumbed to the ageing process, such as the full face, neck and decolletage, Profhilo® helps to counteract skin sagging, crêpey skin texture, fine and deeper lines and wrinkles and dehydration which occurs after sun-exposure, during the natural ageing process or from lifestyle choices such as smoking. Profhilo® is not a traditional dermal filler and will not physically augment the skin, but ‘speaks’ with the skin on a cellular level so that it can produce more collagen, naturally and organically. Collagen helps to keep the skin lifted, toned, hydrated and vibrant but like hyaluronic acid, this vital substance depletes rapidly as we age.
If you are someone who is noticing the various signs of skin ageing, have discovered that your skin is beginning to look tired, dull, wrinkled and dehydrated and if you wish to give your entire facial complexion a ‘boost’, Profhilo® could be just the solution for you. However, before any treatment can take place with Dr Amy Law, she will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation and skin analysis. Dr Amy will examine your skin and facial contours, as well as check your medical history to determine whether a course of treatments using Profhilo® will be both effective and safe for you to undergo. Once she and you are satisfied that Profhilo® will indeed, be a suitable treatment for your needs, you can book your first appointment.
In most cases, Profhilo® is delivered in 2 treatments, one month to 6 weeks apart for optimum results. You should start to see significant skin smoothing and plumping results around 4 weeks after your second treatment, though many of our patients comment that they can see results much faster. Some If you are experiencing significant sun-damage or skin ageing, you may require a third treatment, 4 weeks after your second session. The likelihood of this will be discussed in your pre-treatment consultation with Dr Amy.
As with any injectable treatment that uses a needle, there can be some minor side-effects after a Profhilo® treatment. They can include some slight bruising, mild tenderness and some minor swelling. In very rare cases an allergic reaction, infection or nerve damage can be possible, but these instances are very few, as the hyaluronic acid used in Profhilo® is extremely pure and bio-compatible. Profhilo® also involves far fewer injections than many skin rejuvenation procedures for full face rejuvenation, so the side-effects are usually only very mild and subside very quickly.
Most patients notice a change in their skin quality at around 4 weeks after the initial treatment. However, optimum results are usually seen, around a month after the second session. In the months that follow your Profhilo® course, your skin should start to look smoother, more resilient, radiant and more youthful. Lines and wrinkles should be less visible and any skin sagging should appear more lifted and less visible.
A maintenance session is required every 3 months for optimal results.
